NOTAM: Longmont Gets a Tower for Show

Fly-In June 28-29 Positively Affected

For the first time in its 25 year history, the Rocky Mountain EAA Regional Fly-In will have a temporary tower in operation at the Vance Brand Airport, Longmont (CO) on June 28th and 29th. The tower frequency has been incorrectly published in the 2003 brochures and flyers as 122.975.

...and the RIGHT frequency will be...

That frequency has recently been changed and will now be: 120.525. For complete arrival procedures please go to the event's website.

NOTAMs, as always, are important.

Please, please check all NOTAMs before flying into Vance Brand and also note that the airport will be closed for an airshow and air demonstrations from 1230 to 1445 local on each day.

Great celebration and events planned, in gorgeous venue:

The 25th Anniversary of the RMRFI will be biggest in its history.  A third tent has been added to accommodate the forums and seminars and the traditional workshops promise to be better than ever. Many of the seminars qualify for the FAA Wings program, and NAFI (the National Association of Flight Instructors) has put together a wide variety of seminars for both days.

Youth programs are growing this year with rocket building, rib building, computer simulators and a Colorado Department of Aeronautics kids area. Young Eagles will be flown on Sunday morning before the airshow. Any qualifying pilots that would like to participate are welcome. Keep Long's Peak (right) dead west, and you can't get lost.

The aircraft awards banquet for 2003 will be held on Saturday evening and will feature Dennis Ebbets, PhD as the quest speaker. Dennis is Ball Aerospace's Principal Systems Engineer for the Hubble Telescope and the 'Next Generation Space Telescope.' A fascinating speaker, with information about the future that most people cannot even dream about.

RMRFI may be one of the smaller of the EAA Regional Fly-Ins but the participants continue to come back every year for the grassroots fun and excitement.

[I miss living in Longmont: great people, beautiful weather, all year 'round. Sigh... --ed.]
