Aero Commander 690C Down In Nashville, TN

Four Family Members Fatally Injured In Accident

A plane identified by the FAA as an Aero Commander 690C carrying four members of the same family went down Monday in Nashville, TN, resulting in the fatal injury of all four people on board.

The accident occurred just before 1700 local time, according to a report from television station WTVF in Nashville. The FAA said in a statement that the airplane had departed from Great Bend Municipal Airport (KGBD) in Great bend, KS, and went down about 10 miles south of John C. Tune (KJWN) airport in Nashville, its intended destination. The flight plan filed by the pilot listed four people on board.

Wichita television station KWCH identified those fatally injured as Glen and Elaine Mull, their daughter Amy Harter, and her daughter Sami. They had been traveling to Nashville for a convention.

Nashville Metro Police told WTVF that the pilot has missed his first approach into KJWN and was preparing for a second approach when the plane went down behind a YMCA in a residential neighborhood. Metro Nashville Fire Chief George Hickey said that, according to witnesses, the pilot banked hard to the right to avoid hitting houses before the plane impacted terrain, potentially saving lives on the ground.

The airplane is registered to MidKansas Agri Company of Pawnee, KS. The FAA's  N registry lists the airplane as a Gulfstream 690C manufactured in 1982.
