AD: Pacific Aerospace Limited Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2018-03-14

PRODUCT: Pacific Aerospace Limited Model 750XL airplanes.

ACTION: Final Rule, request for comments.

SUMMARY: This AD results from mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) issued by the aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product. The MCAI describes the unsafe condition as non-conforming fuel tank caps, which could lead to fuel loss during flight.

DATES: This AD is effective March 5, 2018. Comments on this AD must be received by March 30, 2018.

COST: The FAA estimates that this AD will affect 22 products of U.S. registry. They further estimate that it would take about 3 work-hours per product to comply with the basic requirements of this AD.

The average labor rate is $85 per work-hour. Based on these figures, the FAA estimates the cost of the AD on U.S. operators to be $5,610, or $255 per product.

In addition, the agency estimates that any necessary follow-on actions would take about 8 work-hours and require parts costing $1,540, for a cost of $2,220 per product, but has no way of determining the number of products that may need these actions.
