EAA Mourns Passing Of Audrey Poberezny

'She Was Indeed EAA's First Lady'

ANN E-I-C Note: I've oft remarked that as one ages, we find ourselves confronting a world that becomes smaller with each passing of a treasured friend... and as such, the world regressed to a much smaller state by quite a bit with the passing of Audrey Poberezny.

In remembering our dear friend Paul Poberezny, one can not have a complete memory of that great friend and soul without also including Audrey -- often close at hand... his incredibly supportive partner in the creation of EAA.

Audrey has gone west... where we believe an amazing reunion is just starting... commencing first with her beloved Paul, and then with the many thousands of souls whose lives were enriched by her efforts and kindnesses. We truly hope that this is the way the universe really works...

Statement from Jack J. Pelton, Experimental Aircraft Association CEO and Chairman of the Board, on the death of Audrey Poberezny, wife of the EAA's late founder Paul Poberezny. Audrey died in Oshkosh on Sunday, November 1, at age 95:

"The quiet power behind the leader in EAA's formation and development was certainly Audrey Poberezny. She supported Paul from the very earliest days of EAA, from being the sounding board for ideas and balancing the books, to answering the phone and typing out membership cards. Audrey did whatever needed to be done, but never sought the spotlight for herself. Her understanding of people was also a gift that helped EAA grow and thrive into its unique place in aviation, and her warmth will be remembered by all who knew her. She was indeed EAA's First Lady.

"Our deepest condolences to her children, Tom and Bonnie, and to the entire Poberezny family. Our best remembrance is to live up to the high standards and inviting culture that Paul and Audrey began with EAA nearly 70 years ago."

Any further information and details will be announced as they are finalized.

ANN sends its prayers and best thoughts to Tom, Bonnie and the immense cadre of EAA folks whose lives were touched and enahnced by her efforts.
