Piper Malibu M-Class Owners and Pilots Association Rebrands

Organization Now Piper M-Class Owners and Pilots Association

At its 2023 annual Convention in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the Malibu M-Class Owners and Pilots Association (MMOPA) announced a rebranding to the Piper M-Class Owners and Pilots Association (PMOPA).

Founded in 1998 and comprising upwards of 1,300 members, the association is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the interests and safety of owners and pilots worldwide who fly PA-46 derivative (Malibu, Mirage, Meridian, M-Class, JetPROP and Matrix) aircraft.

PMOPA board of directors president John Granmayeh remarked: “We have taken great leaps in the last year in growing and expanding the influence of the association, and including the manufacturer in our name was the logical next step. Piper Aircraft is the remarkable company responsible for creating the airplanes our members love flying.”

Mike Nichols, CAM, CAE, and Chief Executive Officer of PMOPA echoed Mr. Granmayeh’s sentiments, stating: “Our members are passionate about the aircraft they fly and are loyal to the Piper brand, which has a rich and storied history and represents safety, efficiency, and excellence. These qualities align with our Association’s values of Safety, Advocacy, and Community.”

Piper Aircraft vice-president of sales, marketing, and customer service Ron Gunnarson emphasized the strength of the relationship between PMOPA, its members, and Piper Aircraft, setting forth: “Every Piper PA-46, from the first Malibu in 1983 to the latest M600 SLS that rolled out of our paint shop this week, is part of the M-Class family of aircraft. We are excited about PMOPA’s rebranding and the strength of our relationship with PMOPA and its members.”

An assembly of nearly three-hundred attendees comprising owners, pilots, vendors, and other Piper PA-46 aircraft-family stakeholders attended the PMOPA convention in Colorado Springs at which the re-branding was unveiled.

The 2023 PMOPA convention encompassed two full days of educational content, programming, and networking events. Next year’s PMOPA’s Convention & Fly-In is slated to convene on 01 November 2024 at Austin, Texas’s J.W. Marriott Hotel.
