New Embraer Praetor Full Flight Simulators Announced

U.S. and European Locations Imminent

Embraer S.A., the multinational aerospace manufacturer of commercial, military, executive, and agricultural aircraft founded in 1969 and headquartered in São Paulo, Brazil, and FlightSafety International, the world-renowned FAA Part 142 aviation training concern and provider of flight simulators, visual systems, and displays to commercial, government and military organizations, jointly announced the imminent opening of a new Praetor full-flight simulator in Orlando, Florida.

The device, which has been appropriately certified by the Federal Aviation Administration, will be available to customers for initial training events in September 2023, with recurrent training events to commence in October.

Embraer and Flight safety also cited the pending launch of a fourth Praetor simulator to be based at an as-of-yet undisclosed European location. Training events at Subject simulator are slated to get underway by the end of 2024.

Embraer Services & Support CEO Carlos Naufel stated: “Offering additional training capacity is important for supporting our customers. These two new full-flight simulators bring us even closer to Praetor family pilots and operators in the United States and Europe and will provide us with the opportunity to share our latest technological updates and best-in-class support.”

FlightSafety Sales and Marketing executive vice-president Nate Speiser remarked: “FlightSafety is committed to addressing the increasing demand for Embraer Praetor training. As Embraer’s training partner, we are proud to announce consecutive simulator deployments in two regions to support the worldwide training demand for this quickly growing fleet.”

Embraer’s Praetor 500 and 600 are popular contenders in the competitive midsize business aircraft market. Both models rank among the longest-range in their category; the Praetor 600, however, is a larger machine with greater range than its model 500 stablemate.

Launched in 2018, Embraer’s Praetor series represented an improvement on the company’s Legacy 450 and 500 aircraft—retaining the basic wing architecture, fuel-system design, and Honeywell HTF7500E engines as their forebears but adding larger, improved winglets, additional fuel-capacity, and upgraded avionics. The increased fuel-capacity was achieved by dint of the addition of a pair of ventral fuselage fuel-tanks.

While both the Praetor 500 and 600 can easily manage full U.S. transcontinental routes, the Praetor 600 offers a great deal more transatlantic capability—more so, reportedly, even than the Bombardier Challenger 650 and the Gulfstream G280 with which it competes.
