A Goodbye For Amanda

Funeral Services Announced

As the song goes -- The book of love is long and boring... No one can lift the damn thing... It's full of charts and facts and figures and instructions for dancing... and among the skies of this great nation Kyle and Amanda Franklin danced for us all - with great joy, freedom and wonder.

The family and friends of Wing-Walker Amanda Franklin have confirmed that the official farewell for one of the sweetest ladies to grace the airshow world will come this Tuesday, June 7th.

Amanda Michelle (Younkin) Franklin, 25, of Neosho, MO, passed away at the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX, on May 27, 2011, due to complications from burns received in an airshow accident at the Air Fiesta 2011 air show in Brownsville, Texas, on March 12.

Amanda and her Pilot/Husband, Kyle, were part of an aviation family with few peers and one that has suffered incredible losses. Kyle's father, Jimmy Franklin, and Amanda's father, Bobby Younkin, were both killed on July 10, 2005 when they were involved in a fatal mid-air collision while performing together at the Saskatchewan Centennial Air Show in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Kyle and Amanda, who had known each other since childhood and were dating at the time of their fathers' accident, were married just a few months later in October of 2005. They had been performing their wingwalking act together since the summer of 2009.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 Tuesday, June 7 at the First Baptist Church (20 East Dickson) in Fayetteville, AR. Graveside Service will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens, followed by a reception at the Fayetteville Country Club, located at 3335 Country Club Drive Fayetteville AR 72701. RSVPs are requested for those of you wanting to attend the reception as the family needs to get an accurate count for food purposes. The nearest airports served by the airlines are Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport (XNA) and Tulsa International (Tulsa, OK). An online RSVP is requested for those wanting to attend the reception.
