AvionTEq Boosts Flight Recorder Data Extraction Capabilities

Upgrades Allow HHMPI Tool to Support Honeywell, L3Harris Tech

AvionTEq recently announced improvements to Flight Data Systems' Handheld Multipurpose Tool (HHMPI), making it more effective for extracting data from cockpit voice and flight data recorders. These upgrades come through licensing agreements with Honeywell Aerospace Technologies and L3Harris Commercial Aviation Division.

The HHMPI is a portable, shock-resistant tool made to take data from Flight Data Recorders (FDR) and audio from Cockpit Voice Recorders (CVR). It aims to streamline data retrieval, ultimately cutting service time and costs for airlines and MRO facilities. It features intelligent storage and downloading options that can be configured for specific aircraft tail numbers, making it easier for operators to manage flight data.

One of the most significant advantages of the HHMPI is its ability to integrate with various manufacturers' recorders using OEM-specific cables, accessories, and software. Real-time data streaming and cloud-upload features also give operators operational insight for predictive maintenance.

The tool now works with Honeywell’s HCR-25 and L3Harris’s SRVIVR25, both of which are designed to meet modern aviation recording standards. The HCR-25 is type-certified for the Boeing 737/767/777 airliners and provides 25 hours of cockpit voice recording, real-time data streaming, and cloud-upload capabilities. The SRVIVR25 is standard on new Airbus aircraft and widely retrofitted by airlines for improved voice recording capacity.

“Our collaboration with Honeywell and L3Harris significantly enhances the functionality and value of the HHMPI tool, empowering customers with advanced capabilities for data extraction and analysis,” explained Shane Laplante, VP of Sales and Marketing for Flight Data Systems. “Through our partnership with AvionTEq, we are making it easier for operators to integrate the HHMPI into their facilities, ultimately streamlining maintenance processes and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.”

AvionTEq will be exhibiting the HHMPI tool and offering a discounted bundle at the upcoming Aircraft Electronics Association (AEA) International Convention & Trade Show in Phoenix, Arizona.
