StandardAero Celebrates a Decade of USAF Service

T-6 Trainers Run on StandardAero Overhauls, with more than 500 Happy Engines

StandardAero just capped off 10 full years of support for the military's favorite advanced trainer aircraft, the T-6 Texan II.

Since obtaining the contract to provide engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, the firm has worked on more than 500 Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-68 turboprop engines. The full spectrum of T-6s can be daunting for some, given its -A, -B, -C, and -D models, not to mention foreign iterations like their sister ship the Canadian Harvard.

“StandardAero is honored to have been entrusted by the U.S. DoD as a provider of PT6A-68 MRO services in support of its fleet of T-6 Texan II aircraft,” said Lou Vogler, Vice President Strategy and Business Development for StandardAero’s Military, Helicopters and Energy division. “This 10-year milestone comes on the eve of StandardAero’s 60th anniversary of supporting the PT6A, being celebrated in 2024, and we look forward to providing the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy with reliable PT6A-68 support for decades to come.”

StandardAero happens to work on a pretty complete roster of the "fun" turboprop military aircraft of the day, servicing the T-6 Texan II, Pilatus PC-21, and Embraer EMB-314/A-29 Super Tucano.
