Airborne 12.17.14: Evergreen Woes, Foolish Pilot Tricks, No 757 Replacement--Yet

Evergreen Vintage Aircraft, LLC, the company that owns many of the aircraft on view in the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum Has filed for bankruptcy.

Aircraft on display at the museum include the giant Hughes H-4 Hercules airplane, commonly referred to as the “Spruce Goose,” and other classic and vintage aircraft. On a recent Magnicharters airline flight between Cancun and Mexico City, an unnamed pilot allowed 23-year-old singer Esmeralda Ugalde and her 19-year-old actress friend Samadhi Zendejas to sit in the left cockpit seat of the airplane wearing the pilot's hat. It might have gone unnoticed, but as many people do nowadays, a photo was taken and posted on Twitter by Ugalde, and the photo quickly went viral. To make matters worse, the plane was in the air, and full of passengers. A woman in New York who had been detained by police after taking photographs of a military helicopter for a website supporting U.S. military troops has won $1.12 million in damages in a lawsuit stemming from the incident.
