FAA Agreement with FSS Staffers Ratified

The FAA has announced that 86 percent of workers belonging to the National Association of Air Traffic Specialists (NAATS) have approved a new, five-year collective bargaining agreement between the union and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

“This agreement with NAATS serves the public, our employees, and the FAA,” said Blakey. “It not only protects employees’ interests, but features initiatives in training that will develop and reward a high-performance workforce.”

NAATS represents more than 2,200 FAA employees who operate the agency’s nearly 80 flight service stations and auxiliary and seasonal facilities throughout the country. FAA flight service stations provide pre-flight weather, flight planning, and facility information as well as in-flight updates to pilots.

The labor agreement follows five years of intense negotiation, reaching a tentative agreement with NAATS in September. The agreement includes pay banding, pay-for-performance and training initiatives in addition to providing congressionally established pay raises applicable to the general federal employee population.
