Part Of Company's "Only In A Taildragger" Campaign
CubCrafters announced Tuesday an industry-first program intended
to allow broader participation in the fun and adventure of
tailwheel flying.
Now through the end of January 2008, if an interested buyer
isn't already tailwheel current, CubCrafters will credit the cost
of his or her tailwheel endorsement towards the purchase of a new
Sport Cub S2 or Top Cub aircraft. Even better, as part of the
campaign CubCrafters has made arrangements to offer special
incentives toward insuring the new aircraft... often a big worry
for new taildragger pilots.
The training offer is part of CubCrafter's new "Only In A
Taildragger" advertising program... meant to lure more pilots than
ever to the appeal of camping, hunting, and fishing with their
airplanes, backcountry flying, or weekend gatherings at the local
grass strip.
"Recently, several of us had just gotten back from a trip to
Rimrock Lake Airstrip, which is about 30 miles east of Yakima
tucked up in the Cascades," said CubCrafters President Todd
Simmons. "We were tying all the Cubs down and unloading our gear
when someone asked 'Does everyone else know how much fun this is?'
I think we all had the same idea at that moment: 'Why don’t
we just include the training for them to get tailwheel qualified
and help them with the insurance part as well?' That sounded like a
great idea to me, as our goal is to find a way to give every pilot
a chance to experience the unique fun and freedom of tailwheel
flight in a CubCrafters airplane."
"Not so long ago, every
airplane had a tailwheel," Simmons adds. "In the transition to
other airplanes, the fun that you could have and the places that
you could only get to in taildragger were lost. Next time you fly,
look across your airport and notice all of the airplanes with the
wheel under the tail, and take moment to ask their passionate
owners about the experience of flying those planes... now you can
do that too! The reality is that learning to fly a taildragger is
no more difficult than learning to fly itself."
Simmons adds a tailwheel endorsement not only opens up new
opportunities for adventurous pilots... it also improves a pilot's
aeronautical skills and proficiency.
