Pilot Gets Wet Feet In Georgia DA40 Ditching

But 'Not A Single Scratch On Him'

A pilot successfully ditched a single-engine plane in a Georgia lake earlier this month, uninjured but with the inconvenience of wet feet in the incident.

Department spokesman Sgt. Jay Baker said that the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call at about 1 pm on March 18 from the plane's pilot, who advised he had just crashed into Lake Arrowhead, approximately two miles southwest of Waleska, GA.

Orlando, FL resident Alan Ray Jordan, 46, had "not a single scratch on him" and only wet feet, Baker said. A nearby fisherman rescued him from his sinking aircraft.

Jordan was enroute from Calhoun, GA (CZL) to Lawrenceville, GA (LZU) when the Diamond DA40's engine lost power, Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said. The FAA is currently investigating.
