Machinists Rally For 7E7 Contract

Say, Mr. Mullaly, Are You Listening?

Machinists in the Puget Sound (WA) facilities have a message for the head of Boeing's Commercial Aircraft Division, Allen Mullaly: "We ought to consider ourselves, and Boeing better consider us, the frontrunner to put that airplane in the Puget Sound area!" The area surrounding Seattle just got word that Boeing is stopping production of the 757. They're worried about their jobs.

Union leaders at Local 751 say they -- as well as state and local government -- have done everything Boeing has asked of several communities as it shops for a home to build the new 7E7 "Dreamliner." Washington state lawmakers changed unemployment laws. They made improvements to local ports. They changed the building permit process. The Machinists Union assumes there will be a decision any day now. That's why they rallied in Auburn on Friday. "It's time for you to step up, make this commitment right here, to this union, this community, this Boeing community now," said Machinists Union president Mark Blondin.
