Classic Aero-TV: The Mightiest TBM - Daher Socata's TBM900

Building Upon The TBM Legacy...

While at Sun ‘n Fun 2014, ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell, couldn’t resist taking a look at the new TBM 900. Jim asked the President and CEO of Socata North America, Nicolas Chabbert, how they can take an airplane that is already recognized as an industry leader in its class and make it even better.

Chabbert said that the TBM 700, 850, and 900 all have their place in the market. He acknowledged that it was an engineering challenge to achieve the performance increases in the TBM 900. He explained that the engineering mission with the TBM 900 was to improve anything that could be made better without having a negative effect on the things that were already working well. The TBM 900 still retains the TBM legacy features of safe single-pilot operation and rugged capabilities.

The TBM 900 represents the new world of turboprop aircraft that push the performance capabilities of some pure Jets. In this video, Campbell digs for information, and as usual, looks for details. If you are not familiar with the new world of high performance turboprop airplanes, this video will bring you up-to-date.
