Skywest Airlines Partners with Skyborne Academy for Cadet Program

Another Flight School Joins the Club

As the long-promised shortage looms in the future, wise Carriers are planning ahead to develop exclusive hiring pools through dedicated Cadet Programs.

Skyborne Airline Academy Vero Beach is the newest flight school to offer Skywest airlines' Professional Pilot Pathway. This partnership offers beginning students a clear pathway to an airline career and benefits such as mentorship, a conditional job offer, and enhanced seniority upon hiring.

Like similar pipelines, student pilots are pre-selected for eventual airline employment but build time and experience as a Flight Instructor at Skyborne Academy. Upon reaching the necessary requirements and passing their final interview, the pilot can begin IOE as a First Officer at Skywest. Particularly enticing for students are the included tuition offerings for CFII and MEI up to $15,000.

Lee Woodward, Chief Executive Officer, Skyborne, says: “With our closely aligned values, we are extremely proud to be working with SkyWest Airlines, delivering a program that helps aspiring pilots realize their goals, and start this exciting career.

“In addition to receiving a Qualified Job Offer with SkyWest, trainees will benefit from Skyborne’s unique airline-focused approach to training in one of the United States’ flagship flight schools. Having completed the program through CFI, suitable pilots will be initially employed by Skyborne as Flight Instructors and be eligible to receive tuition for Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument (CFII) and Multi-Engine Instrument (MEI), up to $15,000 from SkyWest, before ultimately beginning their career as a First Officer at SkyWest Airlines.”

In addition, Skyborne guarantees a complete refund of all fees after the Private Pilot phase if the requisite proficiency level for further certificates cannot be reached. The first selection of trainees joins Skyborne Airline Academy Vero Beach later this year, with courses beginning monthly.
