SpaceX, MUSK Targeted By Conservative PAC

Group Led By Laura Ingraham Documents 'Problems' With Musk Companies

A conservative Political Action Committee called Citizens for the Republic has been harshly criticizing Elon Musk and his various companies.

The PAC has established a website called "Stop Elon Musk from Failing Again". The group is critical of Musk's use of government subsidies and contracts to build his businesses.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that the PAC points to nearly $5 billion in subsidies received by Musk for Tesla, a company that develops and builds electric cars. And while SpaceX has not received nearly that amount in direct aid, it has been awarded billions in government contracts.

Ramon Lugo, the Director of the Florida Space Institute told the paper that targeting Musk seemed to be an odd choice for a conservative group, since the money he has received from the government has been used to create well-paying jobs in high-tech industries.

Lugo said that finding the reason for the attack may be as easy as following the money. SpaceX is in direct competition with major government contractors like Boeing and Lockheed Martin, "and they also got a lot of money from the government to develop their rockets," he said.
