Daher Joins Hands with Recreational Aviation Foundation

Despite the Kodiak’s Large Size, its New Owner Wants to Support the Backcountry Scene

Daher doubled down on its branding of the Kodiak 900 as the “Ultimate Getaway Vehicle” using a new partnership with the Recreational Aviation Foundation, bolstering the aircraft’s cachet as a go-anywhere, do-anything bird for those who ‘do’.

The firm increased the level of its support to the US Forest Service, loaning out its prototype Kodiak 900 for use in an airlift for two remote grass airports. The mountainous, wooded areas often require pack animals for resupply, but the Kodiak 900 was able to rise to the occasion and operate with ease out of Moose Creed (1U1) and Shearer (2U5).

“Only the Kodiak aircraft family brings the advantages of a spacious cabin together with facilitated cargo access, a significant payload capability and short takeoff/landing (STOL) capabilities to operate from these isolated, unimproved U.S. Forest Service airstrips,” explained Nicolas Chabbert, the Senior Vice President of Daher’s Aircraft Division. “At Daher, we value our relationship with the volunteer-focused Recreational Aviation Foundation through our shared vision of conserving and maintaining backcountry airports in the U.S.”

The 20-year-old Recreational Aviation Foundation is a nonprofit group that aims to preserve the country’s backcountry airstrips, ensuring the continued lineage of bush flight for the next generation. To commemorate their new relationship, Daher has graced AirVenture with their spiffy new Kodiak 900 with the new 5-bladed Hartzell prop.
