Jet Aviation Wants it on Their Challenger
Max-Viz got some good news at EBACE: the company’s
EVS-1000 was ordered by Jet Aviation Basel for a customer’s
Bombardier Challenger business jet. The EVS-1000, recently FAA
certified in the U.S. for this aircraft type, will be installed at
Jet Aviation’s facility in Basel, Switzerland.

"This order indicates significant growth of interest in EVS by
the European business jet community" says Rainer Albecker, Vice
President and General Manager of Jet Aviation Basel, "and
demonstrates the industry’s preference for the Max-Viz
uncooled infrared technology." This constitutes "the first
European installation of an Enhanced Vision System."
The Max-Viz uncooled long wave infrared-based EVS
allows the pilot to see (using electronically-enhanced IR through a
germanium lens) ground vehicles, equipment, obstacles and other
aircraft on ramps, taxiways and runways in degraded visibility
conditions, including darkness, smoke, haze and smog. The system
also detects and displays terrain features during low altitude
maneuvering, approach and landing. This technology is gaining
recognition in the industry as a key element in the prevention of
CFIT and the early detection of runway incursions.
The tail-mounted EVS-1000 was FAA certified by Total Aircraft
Services in Van Nuys (CA) on March 13th of this year and became the
first EVS to be approved without the need for Heads-Up Display.
Jet Aviation Basel, founded in 1967, employs close to 1,000
people and provides maintenance, completions, refurbishment,
exterior paint, avionics and engine shop services.
