Dynon Showcases New AF-6600 EFIS Display at AirVenture

In With the Old! In With the New!

Dynon, the Washington State-based manufacturer of avionics for Experimental and Light Sport Aircraft, has returned to AirVenture with a new flagship Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS) display from its Advanced Flight Systems Division.

The new system—dubbed the Advanced Flight Systems AF-6600—is an evolution of the company’s best-selling AF-5600 series, and features an improved pilot interface comprising high resolution, touchscreen LCD displays, five RS-232 serial ports, two USB ports, ethernet, and Advanced-SV Network connections for comprehensive compatibility with Advanced, Dynon SkyView components (and many third-party devices)—all in a lighter and more compact design.

Notwithstanding its numerous and significant upgrades, the AF-6600 remains compatible with Dynon’s popular AF-5000 series displays. Customers can easily hybridize the panels of their aircraft with components from the two product lines.

The AF-6600 features a new processor that enables 60-Hz screen updates and reduces device start-up time to under twenty-seconds. The unit’s new 10.4-inch, flush-mounted LCD screen offer pilots increased brightness and sharper, more vivid colors than previous generations. Visibility is further enhanced by ambient light sensors that automatically adjust the AF-6600’s display to best suit cockpit lighting conditions.

Ease of installation is facilitated by the unit’s low-profile rear cover, which reduces panel-depth requirements. Installers will also appreciate the fact that the AF-6600’s mounting and wiring protocols are identical to those of AF-5000 series components.

Rob Hickman, President of Dynon’s Advanced Flight Systems division states: “Whether a pilot is putting together a new panel, having us build them an ADVANCEDPANEL, or upgrading from our AF-5000 series displays, the AF-6600 enhances the Advanced experience in every way. We’re excited to deliver this new flagship display to customers.”

Dynon’s family of brands includes the Dynon and Advanced Flight Systems product lines for experimental amateur-built and light sport aircraft. In 2018, Dynon expanded its reach into type certificated aircraft with the launch of Dynon Certified. Throughout its divisions, Dynon plies its resources and expertise to developing innovative products for every pilot and every wallet.
