LifePort Incorporates New Products On Bell 407 STC

Reduces Weight And Adds Patient Restraints For CAMTS Requirement

Sikorsky subsidiary LifePort has amended its Bell 407 Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) to add the new Machined Stretcher, improved Oxygen Cylinder Mount, and new Utility Mount.

LifePort developed the Utility Mount and Oxygen Cylinder Mount in partnership with PHI, Inc., for PHI’s fleet of Bell 407 helicopters. The Machined Stretcher brings increased performance to the mission, and is a product that will serve the market for years to come. This STC represents the first step in the process to make the Machined Stretcher available across a variety of rotor wing platforms.

This new product offering provides operators with increased capability and improved durability, including:

  • 16% weight reduction over the previous composite AeroSled, which results in a savings of 9 pounds for the aircraft
  • All new machined aluminum structure design is less likely to receive damage and is easier to maintain
  • Added patient restraint for CAMTS requirement
  • Redesigned Portable Oxygen Cylinder Mount adds functionality and allows for easier bottle removal and installation
  • Newly designed Utility Mount that provides a certified attachment point for various medical devices weighing up to 22 pounds

“We are very excited about enhancing our current product offering in the Bell 407,” said James McDaniel, general manager for LifePort’s Air Medical and Seating business.

LifePort says this current upgrade to the legacy product further showcases the innovation, collaboration, and commitment to the company’s customers and the market.
