Kalamazoo Aviation Opens New Hangar at AZO

Let's Go Parking!

Phase I and II plans to privately build aircraft hangars at the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport (KBCIA) have been completed, according to Kalamazoo Aviation President Bob Stoops and his vice president, Michael McCormick.

The project has been a showcase partnership between private initiatives, local government and the KBCIA. Job creation and significant financial investment has been made in Kalamazoo with benefits to Kalamazoo County through a land lease contract, the airport, fuel and maintenance businesses located at the airport, as well as aircraft owners and clubs.

Opened for occupancy December 1st, twenty (19) of twenty-one (21) of the new hangars have rental commitments from tenants. A wait list is being developed for Phase III

The phase I building is comprised of 15 personalized hangars, 17,000 square feet and housing over $2,000,000 in aircraft. The phase II building has six hangars and 10,000 square feet configured for larger aircraft, providing facilities that are not available at most airports in southwest Michigan. Of the twenty-two aircraft hangared in Kalamazoo, eighteen (18) aircraft have relocated from other airports to the full service facilities that KBCIA offers.

Phase III through IV plans include an additional fifteen (15) general aviation hangars and a corporate facility accommodating four to six hangars for larger business aircraft with a common reception facility, reducing costs for potential customers and adding convenience for passengers without compromising security.
