Halifax Stanfield to Host Global Airfield Operations Conference

Registration Opens March 17 For The Event

The world’s top airfield safety, operations and maintenance professionals will come together in Halifax this September to take part in SWIFT 2017. SWIFT (Summer Winter Integrated Field Technologies) is an annual conference to discuss the latest trends and technologies for improving the safety and efficiency of airfields around the world.

This is the 39th SWIFT Conference and the first time it will be held east of Montreal. This year’s conference will be located at the Westin Nova Scotian, Sept. 18-21, and will be hosted by the SWIFT Planning Committee and the Halifax Stanfield International Airport.

“We are very enthusiastic about hosting this year’s SWIFT conference,” says Jeff MacMillan, director, operations, Halifax International Airport Authority. “We have participated in SWIFT for a number of years and this year, not only will we have an opportunity to see the latest technology the industry has to offer, our peers will have the chance to see what our great city, our province and our airport has to offer.”

Hundreds of international airfield professionals are expected to attend the four-day conference, which will include a one-day equipment expo at Halifax Stanfield’s Combined Services Complex. The event will also feature distinguished speakers including keynote Major General Lewis MacKenzie, President of General MacKenzie Enterprises.

“One of SWIFT’s greatest assets is the diversity of attendees; the vast expertise gathered in one spot, sharing ideas and best practices,” said Marc Gervais, director airside operations at the Ottawa International Airport Authority, and SWIFT Executive Committee member. “The lineup of sessions this year, coupled with the Equipment Expo, will offer a strong showcase of innovation and leadership.”

Registration for SWIFT will open on March 17.
