XCOM Avionics Releases Intercom System

The new XCOM Intercom is a state-of-the-art, digitally controlled, intercom system suitable for nearly every two or four place aircraft. The XCOM Intercom features a full VOX (Voice Activated) intercom with second com ability, music input with muting and the ability to use different branded headsets without compatibility issues and its half the price of comparable intercoms.

The XCOM Intercom was originally designed for the Microair, Filser, Dittel and Becker aircraft radios but it has now been successfully mated to the leading handhelds as well as panel-mounted Icom, Narco, King and the like. Measuring only 2 1/8 x 1 x 3 7/8 inches or (53 x 24 x 100mm) and with a panel size of only 1 x 2 1/8 (53 x 24mm), it's one of the smallest and lightest intercoms in the world and only draws 60 ma (at 14 V) during operation.

The XCOM Intercom has no voice clipping; it's truly instant on/slow off. Nothing is lost in conversation between the pilot and passengers and the digital voice control provides clear and crisp communication at all times. The XCOM Intercom monitors and reduces background noise when the voice circuit is open and the noise in the cockpit is greatly reduced during conversation or transmission.

The XCOM Intercom is manufactured in Australia under ISO 9002 quality control. Made from tough ABS plastic, it is electronically shielded from engine noise and interference, especially from noisy two stroke engines, and has performed faultlessly in all tests undertaken.

The XCOM Intercom is easy to install and connect to just about any transceiver, including most of the airband and UHF radios. The supplied drilling template makes for foolproof positioning and drilling in your aircraft panel and all wiring is connected via a D15 pin connector (supplied). Custom harnesses are available for most radios for easy installation.

Two com inputs cater for a primary airband com and a secondary VHF, UHF or Marine band transceiver. Additional input for CD player, FM Radio or MP3 player is available with auto muting to enable seamless communication in the cockpit and also so you don't miss important radio transmissions. Selecting the Pilot Isolate feature allows the pilot to only hear his com radio and the co pilot and passengers can continue talking and listening to the CD music without being interrupted by airways chatter. Landing gear, stall and GPS warnings can all be configured for input to the intercom unit so that they are audible through the headsets.

The XCOM Intercom was originally designed for the Microair, Filser, Dittel and Becker aircraft radios but it has now been successfully mated to the leading handhelds as well as panel-mounted Icom, Narco, King and the like. Available in 2 place or 4 place configurations, the price is $399 (AU$), which is approximately $240 US or about $225 EURO.
