We’re a few steps closer to ‘normalcy.’

With many Ohio businesses open and others preparing for a restart, Sporty's Academy tells us they have resumed training operations last week. Sporty's maintenance staff has carefully examined the entire fleet and cleared each aircraft for return to service, but also notes that each pilot should do the same for themselves as they prepare to return to the flight deck. In light of the new reality, Sporty's has made changes. Getting a pilot’s license is expensive... right? I mean, WAY EXPENSIVE... like over $10K or something... or so they tell us. Well... maybe not. Right Rudder Aviation of Florida’s Inverness Airport (KINF) looked over the regs and then looked over at their Pipistrel Motor-Glider and realized that a glider pilot requires only 10 hours and a total of 20 flights to get their Private Pilot ticket, IF they’re sharp enough to do so in minimum time. So... they built a course around that, featuring 10 hours in the airplane, 8 hours of dual, a whole pile of books and course
materials, online ground school, written test exam fee AND the examiner fee for the checkride... for $2995. A promising candidate for next-generation flight training fleets now has a financing program available for it... Texas Aircraft Manufacturing is reporting that it has partnered with Hondo-TX-based Community National Bank to offer Fly-Away Financing for all factory-new Colt-S and Colt-SL S-LSA aircraft. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
