Vertical Aviation Technologies Announces Major Upgrade for Hummingbird 300L Heli

Gross Weight Increase Enables 1,000 Lb. Useful Load

Vertical Aviation Technologies, based in Sanford, Florida, has made an exciting announcement regarding its Hummingbird 300L helicopter.

The company has increased the gross weight of the aircraft to 2850 lbs, allowing for a useful load of 1000 lbs with a full interior. This enhancement is attributed to the incorporation of the cold air inducted IO-540 Lycoming engine, which provides outstanding performance at the new weight.

The Hummingbird 300L is a four-seat helicopter that has been popular among aviation enthusiasts, with over 370 units sold in the past 37 years. It is sold as an Amateur Build Kit and is based on a design approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

To showcase this upgrade, Vertical Aviation Technologies will display two customer-built Hummingbird helicopters at the Sun 'n Fun Aerospace Expo from April 9th to 14th in Lakeland, Florida.

The helicopters, known for their glass panels, leather interiors, and eye-catching paint schemes, will be located at exhibit MD-015C.

In addition to the display, Vic Syracuse will share his experience in building and flying a Hummingbird helicopter in a presentation titled "Building a Hummingbird Helicopter" at the expo. Furthermore, Alex Anduze, a former Sikorsky Aircraft test pilot, will be available to answer questions about rotorcraft engineering and test flying. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet Fred Clark, a pioneer in aviation and the father of Brad Clark, President of Vertical Aviation Technologies.
