Source: Advent Launch Services president Jim Akkerman, upon hearing the news his company was rejected by NASA in the first round of competition for the Commercial Orbital Transportation Services program. Under COTS, private space companies are competing for the chance to build a vehicle to resupply the International Space Station -- especially in the time between the space shuttle's retirement in 2010, and when NASA's Crew Exploration Vehicle comes online one-to-three years later.
