Southwest Passenger Busted For Not Turning Off Cell Phone

Flight Was Landing As Unidentified Man Pushed The 'On' Button

A man on a Southwest flight arriving in El Paso, TX may have tried to get a bit of a jump on the "legal" use of his cell phone as the plane taxied to the gate ... and reportedly switched it on as the flight was landing Monday afternoon.

The move got him arrested.

Television station KTVT in Dallas relays an Associated Press report that indicates the as-yet-unnamed passenger was asked to turn the phone off by the flight crew, and when he refused, he was met by authorities at the gate and arrested, according to Southwest spokeswoman Whitney Eichner.

The El Paso times reports that other passengers have been interviewed in an effort to determine what happened.
