United States Air Force To Offer Robotics Youth Camps In The Pacific

Private Education Company Will Develop And Facilitate The Camps From Alaska To Japan

The U.S. Air Force has signed a contract with private education provider PCS Edventures to develop and facilitate youth robotics camps at seven air bases in the Pacific region this year. The company says it utilizes hands-on manipulatives, computer technology and robotics that focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines.

The contract calls for week-long spring break/summer/winter break camps that focus on developing youth skills in science, technology, engineering and math through experiences with building and robotics. The program is designed for youths 6 to 18 years of age, and the camps will be held between June 24, 2010 and December 31, 2010 for students at Eielson AFB, Alaska; Elmendorf AFB, Alaska; Hickam AFB, Hawaii; Kadena AB, Japan; Misawa AB, Japan; Osan AB, Korea; and Yokota AB, Japan. PCS robotics materials will play a key role in the camps, and PCS instructors will conduct the programs.

"PCS has consistently provided excellent service to a number of youth services programs affiliated with our military," commented Bill Albert, Vice President of Afterschool and Summer Programs at PCS. "We look forward to a further enhancement of our reputation for performance and excellence with the Air Force and other branches of the U.S. armed forces."
