Joyriding Pilot Sentenced To One Year In Jail

It's Sad We Must Clarify Which One We're Talking About...

Phillipe Patricio -- the 21-year-old man who stole a Cessna 172 for an alcohol-clouded joyride with friends last year -- was sentenced in New York Wednesday to one year in jail for his crime.

However, as part of a previously-announced plea deal with prosecutors, Patricio will technically serve no more jail time in New York after pleading guilty to reckless endangerment, flying while intoxicated, unauthorized use of a vehicle and resisting arrest.

Instead, he will remain in custody until Connecticut authorities transport him to that state, to face charges of violating airport security in the June 22, 2005 incident.

Patricio broke into the aircraft at night at the Danbury (CT) Regional Airport, before embarking on a drunken escapade with two friends. The three flew to Westchester, NY.

Patricio's two passengers also have charges pending in Connecticut.
