Embraer Announces Order For Four A-29 Super Tucanos

Undisclosed Customer Is Sixth Operator Of Aircraft In Africa

Embraer announced a contract to sell four of its advanced trainer and light attack A-29 Super Tucanos to an undisclosed customer in Africa, who becomes the sixth operator of the aircraft on the continent.

The aircraft will be used in a variety of missions including border surveillance, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), counterinsurgency, close air support and advanced flight training.

Bosco da Costa Junior, President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security said, “The A-29 Super Tucano is an extremely versatile aircraft that is able to carry out the most challenging missions under the most demanding conditions. It is the world leader in its category as it combines a combat-proven track record with advanced technology.”

The A-29 Super Tucano is a multi-mission aircraft that provides air forces with versatility for armed reconnaissance, close air support, light attack, and advanced training missions in one platform. This capability greatly increases its availability and operational flexibility, and its rugged airframe enables the aircraft to operate from unpaved runways and in harsh environments.

Embraer has more than 290 orders for the Super Tucano aircraft, with more than 570,000 flight hours across the global fleet, 60,000 of which were in combat. In 2024 alone, Embraer sold Super Tucanos to the air forces of Portugal, Uruguay, and Paraguay.
