After years of planning and months of development, Flying Cloud
Airport's south parallel runway has reopened with an extended
length of 5,000 feet, making it a more efficient, attractive
airport for business aviation.
With the closure of SATSAir and their Southeastern Air
Taxi Service, OpenAir has announced that it is expanding to fill
the Southeastern Air Taxi transportation void. OpenAir will be
based at TAC Air in the Greenville Downtown Airport.
Boeing reports that progress is being made on it's 747-8
freighter. On Thursday afternoon, the first of the high-capacity
cargo aircraft was towed out of the factory in Everett, Wash. The
airplane, ultimately destined for Cargolux, will be painted and
begin preparations for flight test.
NASA announced Friday that preliminary data from NASA's Lunar
Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite, or LCROSS, indicates the
mission successfully uncovered water in a permanently shadowed
lunar crater. The discovery opens a new chapter in understanding of
the moon.
The FAA is updating training and procedures for handling the
loss of two-way communication with aircraft and how other agencies
are notified, after a detailed review of air traffic contact with
Northwest Airlines Flight 188 on October 21, 2009
Side-of-Body Installations Complete On First Dreamliner
Boeing has completed installing reinforcements within the
side-of-body section on the first 787 Dreamliner. The modification
entails installing new fittings at 34 stringer locations within the
joint where the wing is attached to the fuselage. Installations
were completed Wednesday.
Groundbreaking Discovery Will Enable Exploration On, And
Beyond, The Moon
A team of scientists from NASA announced Friday that significant
amounts of water ice have been found at the Moon's South Pole. This
landmark finding provides a great boon to an international
community of scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs cultivating a
new era of lunar exploration.
On October 5, 1965, Colonel James Hivner, then a Captain, had
just dropped a load of munitions on a target from his F-4C Phantom
fighter-bomber when his aircraft was hit by anti-aircraft fire. It
was the second time he'd been hit during that sortie, and that one
brought the aircraft down.

substances requires further analysis, but it is safe to say Cabeus

Dead reckoning, as applied to flying, is the navigation of an
airplane solely by means of computations based on airspeed, course,
heading, wind direction, and speed, groundspeed, and elapsed
time.
The announcement Friday that the LCROSS Mission had confirmed
the presence of water ice on the Moon has the scientific community
buzzing about the possibilities.
