Parking Tab for An-124 Stranded at YYZ Tops $330,000

Schadenfreude Among the Maple Leaves

The Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) is charging a stranded Antonov An-124 cargo aircraft an exorbitant parking fee of nearly one-penny-per-second. The 226-foot-long cargo plane has been stuck at YYZ since Canada closed its airspace to Russian-owned aircraft on 27 February 2022. Finding parking for the mammoth aircraft, one of only 26 left in the world, was a relatively simple matter. Liberating it from Canada has proved anything but.

Phantom of the Ghost Squadron

On 17 April 2023, following six-months of painstaking research undertaken by one of the world’s preeminent military aviation historians, the Commemorative Air Force’s Capital Wing proudly announced a World War II combat warbird had been added to its fleet—more or less. The aircraft in question, a Stinson L-5 Sentinel dubbed Gayle Ann, has been a part of the CAF’s Ghost Squadron—the organization’s fleet of historic aircraft—for nearly thirty-years. Autonomous Cargo Plane Completes Scaled Flight Tests

Natilus (not Nautilus, as many mistake) has seen success with its blended-wing Kona aircraft design, paving the way to full-scale tests. The company completed a bevy of tests for its autonomous cargo plane, taking their design from the wind tunnel into the real world with a Southern California flight to 70 mph. The subscale prototype showed that the Natilus configuration can fly just fine without the aid of a "complex autopilot system".

NTSB Prelim: Cirrus Design Corp SR22

Witness Reported That Nearly 6 Minutes After The Initial Impact, An Empty Parachute Could Be Seen Descending Through The Clouds

On April 2, 2023, at 0950 Pacific daylight time, a Cirrus Design Corporation SR22, N424SW, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Oxbow, Oregon. The pilot and the passenger sustained fatal injuries. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight.The accident airplane departed Caldwell Executive Airport (EUL), Caldwell, Idaho about 0930 under visual flight rules, with the intended destination of Lewiston Nez/Perce County Airport (LWS), Lewiston, Idaho.
