Uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) from the Mississippi State University’s (MSU) Raspet Flight Research Laboratory deployed to Georgia on September 29 to conduct flights over areas impacted by Hurricane Helene. The Raspet team worked together with MSU’s Northern Gulf Institute to the UAS to gather real-time data to provide to FEMA for their response to Hurricane Helene. The Oklahoma National Guard, in partnership with Southwestern Oklahoma State University, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, and Weatherford Fire Department, recently hosted a wildland firefighting unmanned aerial systems (UAS) integration exercise. This was held at Crowder Lake on September 25 and 26. It was one of the most stunning sites in all of aerospace... the capture of a rapidly descending booster in two large “Mechazilla” arms at the conclusion of Sunday’s 5th test flight of the SpaceX Starship Main Booster. Starship’s fifth flight test lifted off on October 13, 2024, with the most ambitious test objectives yet for the program... with a launch weight in excess of eleven million pounds.
