Boeing Delivers Three 737-800s To Airline On Same Day

Part Of 10-Plane Order

Last Friday was a busy day for Boeing, as the aerospace manufacturer delivered three new Next-Generation 737-800s to European carrier Hapagfly in one day.

Hapagfly, based in Hannover Langenhagen, Germany, flies scheduled and charter passenger flights primarily to holiday resorts throughout Europe. The 737 deliveries are part of a 10-plane order placed by the TUI Group for Hapagfly in late 2004.

The new airplanes are part of the carrier’s fleet standardization plans -- which Boeing pointedly points out includes the replacement of its aging A310s with the 737-800.

In addition to the three planes delivered to them March 31, Hapagfly took delivery of an earlier 737-800 from the same order on March 25, totaling four deliveries in one week.

The new 737s are fitted with Blended Winglets, which reduce aerodynamic drag, improve fuel efficiency and increase range. To date, more than 6,100 737s have been sold worldwide.
