Marine One Diverted Due To 'Bad Weather'

President Obama And Youngest Daughter Motorcade To Camp David

President Obama and his daughter Sasha started out on a fairly routine 30 minute flight to Camp David Friday afternoon, but were unexpectedly diverted to an undisclosed LZ near Frederick Maryland because of "bad weather."

White House press secretary Jay Carney said the weather determination was made before the President and his daughter boarded the aircraft in Washington. It was unclear why the flight proceeded when weather was questionable at the Presidential retreat.

The press became aware of the change when they were informed that the President would be arriving on the ground rather than by helo. That meant that the daily travel pool, which does not travel by helicopter but would have normally accompanied a motorcade, did not make the trip to the Maryland mountains, according to ABC News.

Maybe even more curious is that Accuweather.com reported mostly cloudy skies, light winds, temps in the 70's, and no precipitation along the entire route of flight at the time Marine One departed.

The President plans to remain at Camp David through Sunday, and will travel to Detroit Monday to speak to labor groups at a Labor Day parade.
