Airborne-Flight Training 11.25.20: Sonaca 200, Airbus-Pilot Cadets, EASA-Cert

Also: Remote Sim Training, PC-12 NGX FTD, CAE Acquires, Middle East Training and Support Contracts

In March 2020, Aero Locarno (Switzerland) signed an order for 5 Sonaca 200 Trainer Pros. The Approved-Training Organisation has just decided to double the initial order bringing the revised order to a total of 10 aircraft.

“Even though we are going through a difficult time in aviation, we are seeing a steady demand for training which justifies the investment in a brand new fleet. We feel the need to harmonize our aircraft fleet by acquiring additional Sonaca 200 Trainer Pros. The Sonaca 200s will replace our old Cessnas. It goes without saying that glass cockpit and state-of-the-art aircraft will further spark interest in our school," Stefano Buratti, Aero Locarno CEO. Proudly wearing their newly-pinned wings, a group of pilot cadets have become the first to graduate from Airbus’ Ab-Initio Pilot Cadet Training Program. These cadets underwent their first phase of training at Airbus Flight Academy Europe in Angoulême, France, which included over 750 hours in ground school, plus 200 hours of flight instruction. They will now transfer to the Airbus Training Centre in Toulouse, for jet orientation and multi-crew cockpit cooperation courses, where they can follow up with a Type Rating. International students interested in doing their helicopter training in the US, just got a chance to learn in a more comprehensive licensing framework. Hillsboro Heli Academy has received approval to conduct professional helicopter pilot training in accordance with European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) regulations. The approval comes through a partnership with Austria-based helicopter flight school RotorSky -- reportedly making them the only helicopter flight school in the US that is able to offer joint FAA/EASA training under the F-1 visa. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
