T-Craft Flyers: If You're Wondering Where Your Struts Are, Read This!

Owners Caught In Middle Of Latest Company Sale

It's no doubt been tough for Taylorcraft fans to see the type certificates bouncing from owner to owner. Now, Taylorcraft 2000 LLC, which owned the Taylorcraft TCs from May 2000 to August 2003, has announced it has repossessed the company's assets, including the Brownsville, TX factory and all the tooling, from Taylorcraft Aviation LLC.

According to the notice last week, Taylorcraft is back on the block... and priced for a quick sale, at $750,000. D&E Aircraft will temporarily relocate the assets to Lake Worth, FL, where the company will operate a PMA facility to supply parts to T-craft owners.

Unfortunately, the changes come at a bad time for any owner who paid Taylorcraft Aviation LLC about $3,500 for new, sealed, OEM lift struts to replace older style struts facing corrosion issues, as dictated by a 2007 airworthiness directive.

J. Scot Ruffner, who is managing the repossession of the company, says he's been trying to reach customers who paid for the new struts before February 21.

"Right now we are assessing the situation to determine how many people are affected," Ruffner told the Experimental Aircraft Association's Vintage Aircraft division. "Depending on the credit card company’s procedures, depending on how long those companies take, we’ll get a good idea of how to move forward.

"Anyone out there who has paid for a set of struts and has not been contacted by me should call me right away," he added. Ruffner's number is (561) 547-7931.
