Showing Aviation's Best: Murphy A/C Soars to 1st Place in Christmas Parade

In celebration of the festive season and to show their appreciation to a community that has been the home of Murphy Aircraft Manufacturing for the past eighteen years, Darryl Murphy and his staff entered a float in the 2003 Chilliwack Christmas Light Parade.

Under the theme "Santa's Workshop," Murphy Aircraft employees and their children volunteered their time and effort by working after hours and weekends to build and decorate a float entitled "Santa's Flying Toys Division".

With over sixty participants registered in the annual event the Murphy newcomers couldn't imagine nor could they resist bursting with joy as they were presented with both the First Place Award for the commercial category and then Third Place overall.

The float featured a giant replica of "Jay-Jay" the cartoon aircraft, an all-metal rocket as well as a wide array of toy airplanes and helicopters. With an illuminated twelve foot high North Pole as their centerpiece, the Murphy crew also displayed skills in building a rustic log cabin out of cardboard tubes normally used to provide aircraft plans to customers.

With more than 20 children of the Murphy Aircraft family smiling and waving to thousands of onlookers, and over a dozen of the employees marching alongside handing out miniature airplanes to the crowd, Darryl Murphy and his wife Patty had much to rejoice about. Their desire of bringing joy to the city and saying thanks for their support was a huge success.
