Aviation Scholarship Surprises Aspiring Pilot

Allegiant Helps With Tuition to Embry-Riddle

Jill Prime’s aviation journey started when she was 8 years old while on an aviation field trip sponsored by a Boys & Girls Club near her home in Florida sparked her dream to become a pilot.

She was determined to pursue her dream and got her student pilot certificate before she learned how to drive. Her dream received a big boost when Greg Anderson, President and incoming CEO of Allegiant Travel Company, announced the company had selected Jill to receive the airline’s Careers in Aviation Scholarship, a $34,000 award, to help pay for her bachelor’s degree at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Jill was caught completely by surprise at the announcement, which was set up by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, who invited Jill to speak to kids from several Southern Nevada Boys & Girls Clubs at Paper Plane Palooza. Allegiant flew Jill to Harry Reid International Airport (LAS), host of the event, where she was scheduled to introduce Anderson to the kids in the audience. Anderson surprised the audience – and Jill! – when he announced the award.

Anderson commented on the award saying, "We are so proud to inspire the next generation of aviators, exposing them to the rewarding career opportunities available in aviation. Jill's journey exemplifies resilience and perseverance, qualities that are integral to the success of a pilot. We want the best to join our industry, and Jill embodies that."

Las Vegas-based Allegiant is partnered with Boys & Girls Clubs of America to engage children and to empower them and inspire them to pursue careers in aviation.
