Cessna 150 Wreckage Found

Searchers Looked For Two Days In Wilds Of Kentucky

Two days after it took off and was never heard from again, the wreckage of a Cessna 150 has been found underneath the waters of a lake in Kentucky.

The aircraft (file photo of type, below) took off from Vine Grove Airport (KY) Thursday evening at around six local time. It was supposed to be heading for Owensboro (KY). Saturday, a utility worker called police about a downed power line near Nolin River Lake, just north of the Mammoth Cave National Park.

Divers were sent to the scene. They found the Cessna under 21 feet of water. Inside the aircraft were the bodies of 48-year-old Stanley J. Thompson of Cub Run (KY) and 41-year-old Ricky L. Lee of Marysville (IN).

There's no indication yet why the aircraft went down. Federal and state investigators are trying to determine that now.
