FAA Issues SAIB For Some BendixKing Navigation Systems

May Cause Unanticipated Pitch Changes

The FAA has released a Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) for BendixKing Navigator KSN 765/770 displays having part numbers 066-01204-0101, 066-01204-1101, 066-01213-0101, and 066-01213-1101 with Software Version 1.0.3, approved under Approved Model List Supplemental Type Certificate SA11174SC.

According to the agency, during autopilot coupled instrument approaches with vertical guidance, the BendixKing KSN 765/770 may cause unanticipated pitch changes due to erroneous early glideslope/glidepath capture commands.

The FAA recommends that all owners and operators of aircraft equipped with the referenced BendixKing Navigator KSN 765/770 provide a means to ensure their flight crews are familiar with the procedures described in BendixKing Service Information Letter D201603000004, Revision 0, dated April 22, 2016.
