Farnborough '08: Bombardier Selects Pro Line Fusion For CSeries

Rockwell Collins System Also Used In New Embraer, Cessna Jets

Chalk up another OEM contract for Rockwell Collins' Pro Line Fusion integrated avionics suite. The highly capable and increasingly popular glass panel system has been selected for Bombardier’s CSeries family of new generation commercial aircraft.

As ANN reported, Bombardier announced the formal go-ahead for the CSeries Sunday at the Farnborough International Airshow, a 60-plane LOI from Lufthansa in hand.

"We are very excited to continue our long standing relationship with Bombardier with the selection of our newest avionics offerings for the CSeries," Said Greg Irmen, vice president and general manager of Business and Regional Systems for Rockwell Collins. "Bombardier's confidence in Rockwell Collins and our Pro Line Fusion offering is a testament to both our strong commitment of providing advanced avionics for airline operators and the flexibility and adaptability of our open system Pro Line Fusion architecture."

Rockwell Collins says the Pro Line Fusion provides an open architecture that features an intuitive graphical human-machine interface, extensive situational awareness capabilities, and comprehensive integration with aircraft systems. Furthermore, the Pro Line Fusion system offers information management capabilities for database management, aircraft maintenance and airline operations planning to enhance operational efficiency.

The Pro Line Fusion integrated flight deck features the industry’s largest high-resolution, 15-inch diagonal LCD displays capable of enhanced and synthetic vision. Rockwell Collins will also provide communication, navigation, surveillance, engine indication and crew alerting system (EICAS), and aircraft maintenance systems. The flight management system is integrated with aircraft performance characteristics and features graphical flight planning, as well as WAAS/LPV and extensive RNP SAAAR capabilities to enhance performance and flexibility.

Rockwell notes the Pro Line Fusion system offers extensive growth capabilities to meet all anticipated future air space requirements, as well as high reliability to meet the rigorous demands of commercial airline operations.

In addition to the CSeries, Pro Line Fusion will also be seen in the cockpits of Embraer's upcoming Legacy 450 and 500 midsize jets, as well as the Bombardier Learjet 85 and Cessna's large-cabin Model 850 Columbus.
