Sustainable Aviation Fuel Coming To Mesa Airport

Falcon Field Getting Avflight’s First Supply of SAF

Fixed Base Operator (FBO) Avflight announced it received its first supply of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from its sister company Avfuel at Falcon Field (KFFZ) in Mesa, Arizona. It is the first Avflight location to offer SAF.

Avfuel now consistently provides SAF supply to 30 of its locations and the second in Arizona to come online this summer.  It demonstrates that the supply of SAF is becoming increasingly more available and consistent across the aviation infrastructure landscape.

The fuel is produced by Neste in Long Beach, California, and is branded as Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel™. It averages a 30/70 blend of SAF to petroleum-based jet fuel, one of the highest ratios available in business aviation to date. One 8,000 gallon truckload provides a carbon emission reduction of 19 metric tons over the fuel’s lifecycle, the equivalent of removing 4.5 cars off the road for one year.

Aaron Mauer, Senior Regional Manager for Avflight commented, “We are incredibly excited to offer SAF at our Mesa location. The addition of SAF to Avflight Mesa’s overall sustainability initiatives furthers our commitment to reducing the production of greenhouse gasses and provides our customers the opportunity to work toward their sustainability goals.”

Corinne Nystrom, Director of Falcon Field Airport said, “We’re thrilled Avflight chose Mesa as a launching point for a more sustainable future. This move compliments Mesa’s Climate Action Plan aimed at protecting Mesa’s environment and natural resources. With Falcon Field growing every day, SAF will play an important role in supporting the airfield’s increased operations while reducing overall emissions.”
