New Glasair Kits Reduce Build Time 25 To 30 Percent

Jump Start Kit Gets You Out Of The Shop And Into The Air Much Faster

So, you don't want to pay upwards of $200,000 for a new aircraft. But you don't want to build the whole thing yourself either. Now, New Glasair offers a kit that, while satisfying most of the FAA's checklist for homebuilts, vastly reduces construction time by as much as 25 to 30 percent.

You Can See What It Is Before You Build It

What New Glasair now sends to a builder clearly has the shape and look of an aircraft.  Between 60 and 70 percent of the structural airframe is already completed to New Glasair Factory standards.

In a Jump Start Kit, the fuselage halves as well as the forward and aft belly panels are all precisely jigged, fitted and seamed together. Reinforcement laminates at the wing root and stabilizer areas are completed; wing and stabilizer cutouts are made; canopy bow and rollover structure laminates are in place; the fuselage reinforcement rib is fabricated and installed; the firewall is fabricated and installed and a high-performance COM antenna is bonded into the vertical fin.

The major structural assembly of the wing is also completed at the factory. This means that all of the ribs are installed; all landing gear support rib reinforcement is done; virtually all control system hardpoints and reinforcement laminates are installed; all fuel transfer cutouts in the nose ribs are made; the aft shearweb is installed and the ribs are trimmed for the upper wing skins.

How Much Time Will You Save?

A Jump Start fuselage for a Glasair III will knock about 400 hours off the build time and the wing will take another 350 hours of tedious labor away from the builder.

"As it is with the GlaStar Jump Start kits, we have upgraded the kits for the Glasair III, the Super II-RG and the Super II-FT to expedite the trip to the flightline, which is where most builders want to be," said New Glasair President Mikael Via.  "Now, when the crate is opened, it is clearly recognizable as a Glasair airframe, not a bunch of parts.  The difficult and critical alignment work is done and structural integrity is maximized."

Price Hike On The Way

New Glasair is raising the prices on its kits on August 15th. By ordering full kits before the increase, builders can save up to $6,968 on a Glasair III; $6,295 on a Glasair Super II-RG; $5,245 on a Glasair Super II-FT; or $3,245 on a GlaStar.
