SMA Diesel Engine Equipped Cessna 182 Crosses The Atlantic

SMA SR305-230 Powered Cessna 182

One SMA SR305-230 powered a Cessna 182 across the Atlantic Ocean.  The pilots Fabrice Palumbo and Erik Jayet flew with the European Squadron, 22 aircraft that banded together for a flight to AirVenture. The SMA powered Cessna flew 4480 miles without any difficulties.

One major benefit is the great range increase due to the incredibly low fuel burn of the diesel, averaging 7.5 gallons per hour, 42% lower then a gasoline engine equipped C-182's 13.0 gallons per hour.
