Continental Airlines Selects Eaton

Hydraulic Power Generation Service Program

Eaton Corporation's aerospace business has been awarded a five-year extension by Continental Airlines to a 10-year cost per flight hour (CPH) retrofit and maintenance program. Under the CPH program, originally launched in 2002, Eaton will retrofit hydraulic power generation equipment currently fitted on Continental's fleet of 364 aircraft with Eaton Vickers(R) brand engine-driven and electric motor-driven hydraulic pumps.

Following completion of the retrofit program, Eaton will also provide maintenance service for the remaining terms of the 15-year agreement under the new contract. In addition, all future new aircraft deliveries to Continental will be configured with Eaton power generation equipment.

Continental's decision to select Eaton for their aircraft fleet's power generation equipment reflects the airline's continuing efforts to maintain a high level of on-time performance and reduce overall operational costs.

Eaton is a leading supplier of hydraulic, electro-hydraulic pump and generator products and integrated systems; electric motors; aircraft flap and slat systems; fluid conveyance products and systems; nose wheel steering systems; integrated control systems; cockpit controls; power and load management systems; pressure sensors and fluid debris monitoring products and systems. Eaton serves commercial and military aviation, aerospace, military weapons, marine, and off-road markets worldwide.
