Yeah, April 1st Is Coming -- AGAIN... Ya Gotta Problem With That?

As previously noted (each year), we have this 'problem.' Each April 1st we have a problem getting our stories straight... we make things up, we get silly, we act weird (-er than normal...) we exaggerate and lampoon... in other words, we act like the folks that run Sun 'n Fun, (but are FAR more amusing AND no one gets hurt...).

However; once a year it's fun to let it all hang out, and this year is no exception.

Mind you, I hate to offer this caveat, but since there has been some confusion in the past ... in one case by a New York Times reporter who actually thought our story on Sandra Bullock racing bizjets at Reno had a glimmer of truth.

And then there's our most recent "Life Imitates Satire" winner, as retail giant Sam's Club announced the sale of a Cessna Mustang as part of its "Once In A Lifetime" holiday promotion last year... eerily similar to ANN's tongue-in-cheek predictions made just six months before. We've yet to see any royalties from "our" idea, though.

ANYWAY, since our format doesn't always allow for easy distinction between April 1st stories and stories that are published on April 1st (if ya know what I mean...), we're gonna warn ya... JUST THIS TIME.

Please note that all stories posted Sunday, April 1, 2007 that are NOT labeled specifically as REAL NEWS should be read with your funny bone in gear, and all others with a straight face... we hope.

That's the LAST warning you're gonna get. After this, we take no prisoners. We're having a ball putting this one together and after some of the past year's low points, I guess we could all use a laugh (and a good cry...).

We hope you enjoy our efforts this year and appreciate the fine work done by ANN Editor-In-Chief Jim Campbell, ANN Managing Editor Rob Finfrock, E-Media Producers Pete Combs and Paul Plack, ANN Associate Editors Annette Kurman and "newbie" Nikki Atkinson, and some REALLY great ANN readers who sent us some TRULY good ideas, photos and suggestions. Ya'll are some very warped people... and we appreciate it.

By the way... Your suggestions for worthwhile April 1st topics and story ideas are ALWAYS welcome. Just click the link below and take your best shot... the weirder the better!

And if you think this year was crazy... just wait til 2008! We get more bizarre EVERY Year.

FMI: I Can't Believe You're Doing This Again!
