GAMA Says FAA Reauthorization Legislation Is Important For GA Manufacturers

Bunce: Association Looks Forward To Working With Congress

GAMA president and CEO Pete Bunce says the FAA reauthorization bill is "vital" to the health of general aviation manufacturers, and on Wednesday praised the chairs of the full committee and subcommittee for getting the bill, the FAA Reauthorization and Reform Act of 2011 [H. R. 658], through the Transportation committee and on to the Committee on Ways and Means.

"Chairmen Mica and Petri have shown great leadership in the crafting of this bill and we look forward to working with them and Ranking Members Rahall and Costello on its passage," Bunce said in a media release. "This bill contains many provisions which are vitally important to general aviation manufacturers including strengthening the ability of the FAA to implement the procedures, policies, and technology necessary for the advancement of NextGen. It also enhances repair station safety oversight and provides support for a critical safety agreement between the U.S. and Europe."

"In addition, the bill provides language to help make the existing FAA certification processes more streamlined and efficient without compromising safety and establishes an FAA-industry group to ensure consistent interpretation of regulations and effective communication about potential changes," Bunce continued. "We look forward to continuing to work with all members of Congress to ensure that the funding levels in the bill will support critical NextGen investments and the certification resources necessary to create jobs in this country and maintain our global competitiveness."
