Terran Orbital Bought By Lockheed Martin

Strategic Acquisition Grows Advanced Satellite Manufacturing

Bethesda, Maryland, -based Lockheed Martin announced it has signed an agreement to acquire Terran Orbital, a leader of satellite-based solutions for the aerospace and defense industries.

Terran Orbital comes to the table with a high-throughput robotic manufacturing capability along with high performing modular space vehicle design. Blending those features with Lockheed Martin’s innovation and performance brings the potential for a broader range of capabilities for customers. Lockheed Martin already uses Terran Orbital’s satellites in its work with the Space Development Agency’s Transport and Tracking Layer programs.

Terran Orbital has supported more than 80 missions for government and commercial customers over the past ten years. The missions comprised a range of profiles and complexities, from low Earth orbit to the Moon and beyond. Lockheed Martin is Terran Orbital’s largest customer, and the longtime working relationship between the two companies serves as a foundation for strong cultural alignment and synergies between them.

Marc Bell, chairman, CEO and co-founder of Terran Orbital said, "This transaction combines our strengths and expertise. This move will open new opportunities for growth and innovation, and we couldn't be more excited about the future. Access to Lockheed Martin's incredible engineers and world class facilities will only accelerate our business plan to provide low-cost, high-value solutions to our ever-growing customer base."
